# Terms & Conditions — Voice For Locals Work App
Effective Date: 28 September 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your participation in the Voice For Locals Local Champion / job seeker programme through the Voice For Locals Work web application (the "Work App") at work.voiceforlocals.org.
Voice For Locals ("Voice For Locals", "VFL", "we", "our", or "us") is a company registered in England and Wales. By creating an account, progressing through training, signing up businesses, or receiving commissions through the Work App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms supplement our Work App Privacy Policy, Work App Terms of Use, and our general website terms at voiceforlocals.co.uk/terms. If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Terms of Use regarding conduct, the Terms of Use prevail for conduct matters; for commercial, payment, and programme matters, these Terms prevail.
Important: The Work App uses the same Voice For Locals shopper account as the Shoppers mobile app. Your login credentials, profile, and account deletion apply across both services.

3. Eligibility
3.1 Age and Status
You must be 18 years of age or over and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Work App or participate in the Local Champion programme.
The Work App is not intended for anyone under 18. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you do not meet eligibility requirements.
3.2 Account Requirements
To use the Work App you must:
- Hold or create a valid Voice For Locals shopper account (email OTP authentication)
- Provide accurate profile information (name, phone number, city, region, postcode, and biography where requested)
- Complete any mandatory training stages before performing paid programme activities
- Comply with these Terms, the Terms of Use, and applicable law
If you do not yet have a shopper account, you will be directed to create one in the Shoppers App before accessing the Work App.
4. The Local Champion Programme
4.1 Programme Overview
The Local Champion programme enables approved participants to:
- Complete structured training to become a certified Local Champion
- Sign up local businesses to the Voice For Locals platform
- Earn commissions based on verified business sign-ups and programme performance
- Participate in referral programmes for job seekers and businesses
- Appear on local, regional, and national leaderboards
Participation is not employment with Voice For Locals unless and until we expressly offer you a separate employment or contractor agreement in writing. Until then, you participate as an independent programme participant or self-employed individual as applicable to your stage.
4.2 Training Stages
The programme includes sequential training stages, which may include:
| Stage | Description |
|---|---|
| Interview | Initial suitability assessment, typically booked via Calendly |
| E-learning | Online modules, quizzes, and video content (fee applies — see Section 5) |
| App training | Practical training on Voice For Locals tools |
| Business skills | Training on business sign-up and engagement |
| Field training | Supervised or practical field activities |
| Certification | Final certification assessment (fee applies — see Section 5) |
| Self-employed | Post-certification independent programme activity |
We may update stage requirements, content, or sequencing at our discretion. You must complete each mandatory stage before advancing. Superadmin staff may mandate lesson revisions where programme standards require it.
4.3 Calendly Bookings
Certain stages require booking appointments through Calendly (opened in a new browser tab from the Work App). By booking:
- You agree to Calendly's own terms and privacy policy
- You are responsible for attending booked sessions or rescheduling in accordance with our reasonable cancellation policy
- Missed appointments without reasonable notice may delay your progression or affect programme standing
We are not responsible for Calendly service availability or third-party scheduling errors outside our reasonable control.
5. Training Fees and Payments
5.1 Fees
Training fees currently include:
| Item | Fee (GBP) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| E-learning | £100 | Payable to access e-learning modules |
| Certification | £400 | Payable for certification stage |
Fees are stated inclusive of applicable VAT where charged. We may update fees for new participants; fees confirmed at the point of payment apply to your transaction.
5.2 Payment Methods
You may pay training fees using:
- Stripe (card payment)
- Klarna (instalment payment option for certification, subject to Klarna's eligibility and terms)
- Voucher code (where issued by Voice For Locals or an authorised partner)
Payment processing is handled by the relevant payment provider. We do not store full card details on our systems.
5.3 Klarna Instalments
Where Klarna is offered for certification fees, your agreement to pay instalments is also with Klarna under Klarna's terms. Failure to meet Klarna payment obligations may affect your certification status and programme access. Voice For Locals is not responsible for Klarna's credit decisions or collection processes.
5.4 Refunds
Training fee refunds are handled on a reasonable, case-by-case basis:
- Before access: If you have not commenced the relevant paid stage (e.g. e-learning modules not started), we may offer a full or partial refund at our discretion
- After access: Once you have accessed paid training content or completed a certification attempt, fees are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where we have failed to deliver the paid service
- Voucher codes: Non-refundable unless the voucher terms state otherwise
- Klarna payments: Refunds, where approved, are processed through our payment systems; instalment arrangements remain subject to Klarna's policies
To request a refund, contact support@voiceforlocals.co.uk with your account email, payment reference, and reason for the request. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where applicable.
6. Business Sign-Up Obligations
6.1 Your Responsibilities
When signing up local businesses through the programme, you must:
- Obtain the business owner's informed consent before submitting their details
- Provide accurate business information (name, address, phone, postcode, and contact details)
- Explain that the business is joining the Voice For Locals platform and the nature of any campaigns or offers
- Not misrepresent yourself as a Voice For Locals employee unless you hold a separate written employment contract with us
- Comply with all applicable data protection, marketing, and consumer protection laws
6.2 Verification and Rejection
We reserve the right to reject, remove, or flag business sign-ups that:
- Contain inaccurate or fraudulent information
- Do not meet platform eligibility criteria
- Breach our Terms of Use or business terms
- Appear to have been obtained through misrepresentation or pressure selling
Commissions are payable only on verified, active, and qualifying business sign-ups as determined by our programme rules.
6.3 Business Feedback and Metrics
Business sign-ups may be associated with campaign metrics (sent, reached, walk-ins, redeemed) and feedback. These metrics may affect commission calculations and rankings. We determine qualifying metrics in accordance with programme rules published or communicated through the Work App.
7. Commissions
7.1 Commission Structure
Commissions are earned based on verified business sign-ups and programme performance in accordance with the commission tiers and rates displayed in the Work App or communicated to you by Voice For Locals. Commission structures may include:
- Payments for qualifying new business sign-ups
- Tiered rates based on volume or performance
- Referral-related commissions for referred job seekers who achieve qualifying milestones
Commission rates, tiers, and qualifying criteria may be updated from time to time. Changes apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law or expressly agreed in writing.
7.2 Commission Calculation
Commissions are calculated by our backend systems based on:
- Businesses signed using your referral code or attributed to your account
- Verified programme activity and campaign metrics
- Your current commission tier and employment/training status
You must review commission statements in the Work App and raise discrepancies promptly. We are not liable for errors reported more than 90 days after the relevant commission period unless required by law.
7.3 Payment of Commissions
Commissions are paid in accordance with programme payment schedules (typically monthly) subject to:
- Submission of valid commission invoices through the Work App where required
- Your account being in good standing (not blocked or suspended)
- Minimum payment thresholds where applicable
- Deduction of any amounts owed to Voice For Locals or required by law
You are responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, and accounting obligations arising from commission income.
7.4 Commission Withholding
We may withhold or reverse commissions where:
- A business sign-up is found to be fraudulent, duplicate, or in breach of programme rules
- You have breached these Terms or the Terms of Use
- A chargeback, refund, or regulatory action affects the underlying transaction
- We are required to do so by law
8. Invoices
8.1 Monthly Commission Invoices
Where the programme requires it, you must submit monthly commission invoices through the Work App, including:
- Your name and contact details
- Your area (city, region, postcode as displayed on your profile)
- Commission period and amounts claimed
- Supporting business sign-up records as displayed in the Work App
Invoices must be submitted within the deadlines shown in the Work App. Late submissions may delay payment to the next payment cycle.
8.2 Invoice Accuracy
You warrant that all invoice information is accurate and that claimed commissions relate to genuine, qualifying programme activity. Submitting false or inflated invoices constitutes a material breach and may result in account suspension, commission forfeiture, and legal action.
9. Rankings and Leaderboards
The Work App displays local, regional, and national leaderboards showing participant names and areas based on programme performance.
By participating, you consent to your name and area being displayed on rankings as described in our Privacy Policy. We may remove or adjust rankings where we detect errors, fraud, or breach of programme rules.
Leaderboard positions are for programme recognition only and do not guarantee employment, minimum earnings, or continued programme access.
10. Referral Programme
10.1 Job Seeker Referrals
You may share your referral code to invite others to join the Local Champion programme via WhatsApp, email, SMS, clipboard, or your device's share sheet.
Referral rewards or commissions for referred job seekers are subject to:
- The referred person applying your code successfully
- The referred person meeting programme eligibility and progression requirements
- Referral terms displayed in the Work App at the time of referral
10.2 Referral Rules
You must not:
- Spam or send unsolicited bulk messages
- Misrepresent the programme, earnings potential, or Voice For Locals affiliation
- Create fake accounts to claim referral rewards
- Share referral codes on platforms or in contexts that breach those platforms' rules or applicable law
We may modify or withdraw referral incentives at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
11. Account Status and Suspension
Your account may be marked as training, hired, or blocked depending on programme status. Block reasons may be recorded and displayed where appropriate.
We may suspend or terminate your programme access where you breach these Terms, the Terms of Use, or programme rules. Suspension may affect commission eligibility, rankings, and training progression.
See the Terms of Use for detailed conduct rules and suspension grounds.
12. Account Deletion
You may delete your account in the Work App (Edit Profile → Delete Account).
Because the Work App shares a shopper account with the Shoppers App, deletion removes your Voice For Locals consumer account entirely. Deletion requires OTP verification via your registered email or phone number.
Upon confirmed deletion:
- Your personal identifiers are anonymised on our systems
- Pending shopper wallet rewards may no longer be redeemable
- Unpaid commissions that were validly earned before deletion may still be processed subject to invoice and verification requirements, unless forfeited due to breach
- Transaction and loyalty records required for legal compliance may be retained in anonymised form (typically up to six years for UK financial records)
- Local browser storage (session token, champion profile, SCORM progress) is cleared
To request deletion or discuss outstanding commissions before deleting, contact support@voiceforlocals.co.uk.
13. Intellectual Property
Voice For Locals owns or licenses all intellectual property in the Work App, training materials, branding, and programme content. Your participation does not grant you ownership of Voice For Locals trademarks, training content, or platform technology.
You may use programme materials only for authorised training and business sign-up activities. See the Terms of Use for further restrictions.
14. Limitation of Liability
14.1 Programme Nature
The Local Champion programme is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee:
- Any minimum level of income or commissions
- Employment or contractor engagement with Voice For Locals
- Continuous availability of the Work App or third-party services (Stripe, Klarna, Calendly, YouTube)
- That business sign-ups will remain active on the platform indefinitely
14.2 Liability Cap
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Voice For Locals shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, income, data, or goodwill arising from your participation in the programme.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total training fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.
14.3 Exceptions
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Voice For Locals against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms or the Terms of Use
- Your business sign-up activities, including misrepresentation or unlawful data collection
- Your tax or regulatory non-compliance as an independent programme participant
- Content you upload (including profile photos)
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be available on our website and linked from the Work App. Material changes will be communicated through the Work App or by email where appropriate.
Continued use of the Work App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where prohibited by law.
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising from or connected with these Terms, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
18. General
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, constitute the agreement between you and Voice For Locals regarding the Work App programme
- Severability: If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect
- No waiver: Failure to enforce a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later
- Assignment: We may assign our rights under these Terms; you may not assign yours without our written consent
